This is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone propose a plan for an alternate distribution model in the post-Napster age. I’ve seen lots of music sharing advocates argue “The record companies just need to find a new economic model”, but I’ve never seen anyone actually take a shot at what this new economic model would look like.
Unfortunately, I have no idea just how feasible Mr. Blonder’s model is, since I’m not an economist and I no very little about the workings of the music industry. But it’s a start.
