According to this Yahoo! News story, Software Piracy Said to Decline in 2002, software piracy is down from 40% to 39%. Yay.

My favorite bit from the story - “the piracy rate was calculated by comparing the researchers’ estimates on demand with data on actual software sales.” So someone decided that 10 copies of Windows XP SHOULD have been sold, but only 6 were sold, so clearly piracy is at 40%. Good job.
