Well, it’s pumpkins-and-candy day, so the obligatory jack-o-lantern photos have been posted.

I’m guessing most everyone’s forgotten about the “family web site I proposed”:http://sourceforge.net/projects/familycommons/; if you didn’t, congrats. If you did, don’t worry. You can continue forgetting about it for the time being. Rest assured that I have not forgotten and work does continue on it.

For the sake of being semi-mysterious, I’ll leave it at that.

I’ve been a bit negligent in posting family news, and since a picture is worth a thousand words, I hope the offerings below make up for missed time…

It’s a bonanza day in the photo department. Starting things off with two weddings, we’ve got the “Ed/Kelly combo”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/photos/edandkellywedding along with “Dan and Becca”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/photos/danandbeccawedding.

The photos from the “2003 World Championship Figure 8 Race”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/photos/2003figure8 are also up, but pickins are a bit slim this year since our photo journalist (Kelly) had to work that weekend. The weekend before the race “John Remein swung through GR”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/photos/johnlaborday, which coincided nicely with Labor Day weekend.

Finally, for your viewing pleasure, we’ll conclude with “photos from our house”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/photos/ourhouse, including all the painting and home improvement that went on.

Non-Mac users, you’ve been duly warned.

As The Apple Turns rightly called this image “the frightening image known to man.”

Prepare yourself.

Kyle is trying to sway me to the dark side saying that I should be a mac user. My will on the issue is fading. I don’t think I’ll be able to look myself in the mirror anymore if I join the dark side (just kidding).

When we moved into our new house, there was a stack of nasty rotting firewood stacked next to the house. This was a bad spot for two reasons, the roof drained all the rainwater directly on it and it’s a fire hazard stacked against the house.

So I went to work building a thing to hold the wood off the ground in a neat stack. My first attempt took 2 hours and a lot of frustrations. My dad came over took one look at it and asked for the drill. It took him only 3 minutes to take it all back apart and 1 hour to build a much stronger model. So thanks to my dad there is a place to stack the lumber.

Meanwhile Kyle was hard at work chopping all the wood into pieces that will actually fit into the fireplace. So now we have a beautiful wood stack in our backyard near the fence. It dries the wood and is no longer a fire hazard. Now it will be much easier to pick wood for our frequent usage of our fireplace.

I’ve just witnessed one of the most incredible football games I’ll ever see. The Colts came from 21 points behind and four minutes left in the game to beat last year’s Super Bowl champs, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unfortunately, the taste of victory is bittersweet, tainted by what is at least a controversial call by the referee, if not flat-out wrong.
