We went sledding last night (first time this winter for me); good fun, good fun. If you’ve been to our house when it was still warm, we probably took you to the beach. And we probably went by way of the Sugar Bowl, a local name for the Lake Harbor Park. The Sugar Bowl consists of some respectably large dunes in a half-bowl shape, so when the snow comes, it’s a great sledding spot (though Paul Rustler still has it beat when the conditions are perfect).
After sledding, I came back, built a fire and made a cup of hot peppermint cocoa. Watching the fire, feeling the warm cup in my hands was a precious moment of quiet contentment. Or rather, quiet geek contentment, for I was also enjoying the gentle glow from the LCD of my iBook–undoubtedly that would ruin the moment for some, but just bear with me here ![]()
My sledding experience has a relatively new element to it–waking up sore the morning after! I’m gaining a new measure of respect for my elders.
