Well, I’m back from the cruise and finally unpacked. I should have posted last week, and I’m sorry. I am just a posting loser. Anywho… I have “lots of pictures”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/photos/2004SpringBreak?&page=1 from the cruise on this crazy website now, so you can check them out. What I am missing are the nice pictures that show what dresses I wore. I need to scan those in so I figure at the rate I am going I will put those up in 2009. Just so you know, my sister loves to take pictures when we are lazing about and I was the only one around so there are lots of pictures of me sitting around in my room. We did actually leave our stateroom however. It was a great trip with lots of fun things to do all the time. Maybe in a decade or so I’ll convince Kyle to go on a Cruise with me.

Well it’s official. I have a new brother-in-law-to-be. Which makes two within a year. At this rate, by the time I am thirty, I’ll have twelve brother-in-laws. Suppose I would probably need a few more sisters first, but hey, minor detail.

Apparently Alex is taking his “Electrabbit”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/scribbles/family_news/electrabbit_bday_lan_party/ moniker a bit too seriously.

I was working on the computer this morning with Alex hopping about my feet. All of a sudden, I heard a very unhappy “bzzzzt” sound. Now of course, the “obvious thought went through my mind”:http://www.dilbert.com/comics/forbetter/archive/images/forbetter2004022522869.jpg so I looked under the desk. Sure enough, Alex was sitting on top of the power strip, just frozen there. I was getting pretty frantic; I wanted to get him off, but I did not want to touch him for fear of being electrocuted myself. I frantically looked around the office for something non-conductive to push him away. About that time, he hopped off the power strip and went on his merry way, apparently unharmed.

Unfortunately the same could not be said for the power strip, which continued to buzz most loudly. Smoke was now wafting from the outlets and multi-colored sparks were arcing all over the strip. An acrid smell of smoke and… wait, what’s that smell? Bunny urine?!? Cripes! That booger!

Sure enough, a suspicously yellow pool of liquid seeped into two of the sockets. Didn’t take long before the circuit breaker blew (I still don’t know why the fuse in the strip didn’t go first), and I was left shaken, standing in a room smelling of fried rabbit urine. Stupid bunny. On the other hand, I am glad we only lost a power strip and not a rabbit. It would have made a most unhappy “homecoming for Kelly”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/scribbles/family_news/homecoming/.

Homecoming

Kelly will be getting in today from her cruise–she will be arriving at the airport tonight, so my week of bachelorhood is coming to an end. Good riddance. While I enjoyed being in control of my schedule and hanging out with the guys, it’ll be nice to not have an empty home again.

In related news, I’ve been away from the computer for most of the week due to a project I wanted to finish before Kelly arrived. More on that later :-)

Last I heard from her, Kelly was in Miami (Bienvenidos a Miami!) waiting for Candie’s flight to come in. According to her iternerary, today’s a “Fun Day at Sea”, and they’ll be getting into “San Juan, Puerto Rico on Monday”:http://www.weather.com/weather/detail/USPR0087?dayNum=1&from=search. One of the attractions in Puerto Rico was a trip to “see some bioluminescent sea creatures”:http://www.nationalgeographic.com/media/world/9805/glow/; that was Kelly’s pick.

I asked her what she was most looking forward to about the cruise, and her top three picks were:

# Being warm.
# Eating the food.
# Retreating to her cave.

I teased her that she could be perfectly happy if stuck on a freighter in the middle of the ocean, as long as the food was good and it was near the equator. To clarify: her cave is her room (“number 7205, at the front of the ship”:http://www.carnival.com/images/funships/decks/TI/TIEmpress2.gif). She and Candie actually prefer the inner rooms without windows, since the rooms are conducive to sleeping at any time of day or night. Sleep all day, party all night, midnight buffet here I come.

Here I Go!!

Family News Comments Off

Well, it’s 9pm on Friday and I am leaving the house at 3am Saturday. Not much time to sleep now, but I’m too excited anyway. Tomorrow morning I’ll be boarding Carnival Cruise lines to take me to a warmer location. My sister Candie is in Boston and will be meeting me onboard. She also has to leave at 3am and says she just isn’t going to go to sleep. Crazy college kids.

I’ll post again when I return and you can all see what I actually wear in the picture pages, once I get them up. Some additional information was taken into consideration when choosing the final choices from “Dress the Kelly”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/geekyfreak/dresskelly/. Thank you all for taking the time to vote, it really helped in making such crucial decisions :) .

“iPod advertising takes over Toronto subway”:http://www.macminute.com/2004/03/11/toronto

Sure looks good in there; I wonder if I could turn a quick buck by selling our house to Apple for advertising space. It would cut down on home decor work and virtually eliminate associated costs!

The temperature outside is 39°F, but inside it is 102°F, at least according to the oral termometer. I haven’t been this sick since my “Valentine’s Day death bug swept Third VanderWerp”:http://memories.kyleandkelly.com/index.cgi?KylesDeathBug. On the upside, I’ve been able to catch up after a very busy week. We started off with the “Electrabbit B-Day LAN party”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/scribbles/family_news/electrabbit_bday_lan_party/ on Saturday, went to “see The Passion of Christ on Tuesday”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/scribbles/christianity/passion_musings/#more, and wrapped things up with Kelly’s scrapbooking small group coming over for their once-a-month session on Friday.

We saw “The Passion of Christ”:http://www.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll?p=avg&sql=A290960 on Tuesday, with our church’s high school youth group. I’m not going to review the movie, or rehash the controversies around it, as “others have done a much better job”:http://www.nationalreview.com/ponnuru/ponnuru200402201151.asp. Just a few personal thoughts for posterity.

Well, the day came and went. Undoubtedly some of you are scratching your heads, trying to figure out what an Electrabbit B-Day LAN Party is. Let’s break it down (yo, yo): “electrabbit”, short for Electronica rabbit, on in other words, “Alex the Techno Bunny”:http://www.kyleandkelly.com/vids/techno-bunny.shtml. His birthday (or b-day), was on February 28th; he’s now a healthy spoiled three years old. It sounded like a good excuse to party.
