After getting a “large chunk of a Wired issue”:http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/12.03/ devoted to them, Google doesn’t seem to be content to rest on their laurels. They’ve “tweaked the UI”:http://www.google.com/press/pressrel/enhancements.html, “borrowed an idea”:http://www.google.com/webalerts from “Google Alerts”:http://www.googlealert.com/ (though no RSS… yet), become “more personal”:http://labs.google.com/personalized and “more local”:http://local.google.com/lochp, and “started to tackle the e-mail problem”:http://www.google.com/press/pressrel/gmail.html. Phew.
To be sure, there are “dark sides to letting one entity so heavily influence the Internet”:http://www.searchethos.com/power-of-google.html, but man they’re doing a good job.
Oh and I *love* the 20% rule.
