It’s baby time around here; not human babies, but canine babies. That’s right, we’re going puppy shopping. Right now we’re looking at chocolate Labradors and pugs. One of the prime considerations is “plays well with bunny.”
Labradors tend to have oral fixations, but they also have soft mouths. They are bread to retreive prey without damaging them. Introduced to Alex at an early age and trained properly, we should be able to acclimate the puppy to Alex without problem. Labradors tend to be good family dogs that live well with other pets; our large backyard and close proximity to popular dog walks will give ample opportunity to exercise.
On the other hand, pugs, despite being one of the ugliest animals ever bread, have wonderful temperment. They do very well with other household pets, though they can get jealous if not enough love is spread around. Very eager to please, care for and exercise, with the only drawback being susceptibility to health problems (and expensive vet bills).
Right now the labs have the upper hand, as we went and visited a liter of chocolate labs today. We’ll be back tomorrow to conduct the “Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test”:http://www.golden-retriever.com/puppy_aptitude_test.htm and see how they come out.
