Finally! I’ve finished canning. It is actually a fun ritual for my family. My mom and I are the primary canners, but my sister Candie and my Dad are also a great help. This year, we started with peaches then moved onto salsa and finished with tomatoes. The only injury I have to report is some hot feeling hands from the cutting of the jalapenos. I even wore baggies on my hands, but the spicy juices must have soaked through.

I am proud to say that Kelly has turned into a young version of my grandma (gummy). She knits, crochets, cans, quilts, gardens, paints, does carpentry etc. etc. There is nothing that she cannot do. I look forward to canning with my girls!! It is a fun, bonding tradition to hand down. Thanks, Kelly, for grabbing the baton with such enthusiasm!! Maybe I WILL give you that Yule Kage recipe after all.
