Although I love being a nurse and I love my coworkers, my job seems to be sinking fast. For those of you who do not know, I currently work on a Neuroscience medical and surgical floor at the hospital. I love this patient population, but am always looking for ways to expand my nursing expertise.
I took it as a good thing when we were told that we would be becoming an intermediate care floor (A step down from and intensive care unit). My hesitations ran along these lines: “we will now be a Neuroscience, intermediate, cardiac, medical and surgical floor.” It seems that our specialty is too broad for quality care. I could be wrong and was willing to stick through all this; however, our manager just resigned. It seems that if the captain jumps ship, maybe it’s a good time for the crew to follow suit.
