Storage for 16,000 book, simplicity, and oodles of natural lighting.
The house appears to be a trapezoidal shape, all open on the interior. The largest side is all windows to funnel the light in and provide a natural panorama. The siding looks like the cheap corrugated metal siding, like what you’d expect to see in a junkyard; combined with the wood, in this setting, it works. The only change I might make would be to the porch: I’d like one large enough to relax and watch a storm roll in. Photos after the jump.
I think the title speaks for itself.
Oh the fun of Halloween. Since Baby O isn’t old enough to say no yet, we dressed him up as a hot dog for the festivities. He stayed nice and toasty warm in wh at looks to me is a mummy bag style sleeping bag. We brought his wagon inside and put him inside it with some pillows and toys near our front door. I had thought that he might like to see all the kids coming up to the house, but he fell asleep before the first trick-or-treater even got here. He did wake up near the end to see a few kids. In the last few days, Kyle and I had a great time carving pumpkins, what a terrific cheap date!
We recently rented a cottage in Traverse City and enjoyed the early fall weather. Unfortunately Kyle company forced him to work on his vacation time 8 hours a day all weekend long. Boo. This meant that I didn’t get all the naps I was hoping for and I had lots of time to hang out with the rest of my cottage companions. My mom (mor mor), dad (opa), sister Candie and her boyfriend Alex came with us to enjoy in a relaxing getaway. I think one of my favorite times was sitting around the campfire on the lake and laughing at the party going on across the lake. We were singing and dancing to their music and enjoying the roar of our private fire and delicious smores. We also enjoyed walking around downtown with my supreme stroller (thanks to GG), exploring mission point penninsula with the lighthouses and wineries, and who could take a trip without visiting the medi-center. Much to everyone elses enjoyment, I was completely without a voice and suffering from a blinding headache. You would think since I am a nurse and have had sinus infections in the past, that I would have recognized the symptoms sooner. Finally two weeks later I am starting to regain my voice again.. just don’t ask me to sing.
Wow, it’s been a long time since I posted anything, so while my little companion is napping I’ll give both of my blog followers an update. Baby O’s new thing is sitting up. He’s actually getting pretty good at it. He can sit unassisted for minutes at a time and uses his arms at his sides and in front of him to balance himself. He does run into problems however when he turns to look at something behind him. He eat a wide variety of fun things now like rice, oatmeal, bananas, apples, sweet potato, and sweet peas. He really likes to help when it comes to eating and I give him his own spoon so he can “help.” His 6 month b-day is coming soon and I’m hoping to do something fun to commemorate the occasion, we’ll see!
I am infatuated with simplity: reading Unclutterer, Zen Habits, Paul Graham’s Stuff… purging my cubicle, cleaning out the garage, and maybe even picking up around our home office (the worst den of disorganization). We are paring down the amount of stuff we own. Nothing radical yet, but just a little here, a little there.
Baby O, you’re going down. The YouTube version is after the jump.
So Kyle and I have a new online addiction: Sharkrunners. It is an internet game based in real time on real GPS navigation tags on real sharks. The deal is, you are doing research on a boat of sharks and you get paid for doing good research. The game is run by Discovery Channel and is a family-friendly learning game.
Now, I would be winning, but Kyle is cheating. He managed to “accidentally” trick the game into giving him an additional crew member who can do additional research. Hmmm…. sounds suspicious to me. If you want to join us, you can go to www.sharkrunners.com and sign up (it’s free and no spam either). Then you can set us up as rivals: Kelly is kellu and Kyle is kadams54, just remember Kyle cheats. ![]()
Snubbing a YouTube debate seems like a bad idea to me; the Republican party already has an image problem with being elitist. Passing up a debate that features questions directly stated by a wide variety of folks over the Internet only reinforces that perception.
